Another slick diary

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Went into one of the over-priced t-shirt shops near Carnaby Street and found this little gem, just days after buying this one. (I forgot to say that the first one is from Eco Bridge and printed ecologically on recycled paper. Check them out. I love the badges that you can order from Korea encouraging us to consume less and walk more! I’m not being ironic, alltho it is.)

This one is also from Korea, from Millimeter Milligram and I’m starting to think all Koreans are natural design wizzards (that goes out to you, Jun and Karl!). As you can tell this was their last copy so I figured I would need a new diary eventually.

On another note, being in Marrakesh for four days just messed my work ethic up. Spent most of yesterday getting depressed over people younger than me doing better things for bigger clients. Instead of doing better things for bigger clients (can’t really do anything about the age).

So now I have a political poster to do til tomorrow. Exciting brief, actually. Found alot of old sketches I need to realise during spring. And I’m not really complaining, protest posters are supposed to be sprung out of the rage of the moment. I’ll show you tomorrow if I’m not too ashamed.

New screen print

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Finished the print before spending the weekend in Marrakesh.

The drafting film for the first, yellow layer, underneath the film for the second, red layer.

All the three originals layered. On top, the last, blue layer.

Close-ups from a print where I happened to print the blue layer upside down.

And finally a close-up from the final final print. Now I’ll just photograph it properly so that it can be reprinted digitally.

New lovely diary

Monday, January 18th, 2010

I bought a lovely diary from Shelf the other day. I checked it out last year and have been thinking about it repeatedly over the holidays. When I went there, this was the last copy left, so I was glad to pick it up in time! It’s one of those “if I just get this one thing I’ll magically start keeping track of time, work harder and dicipline myself more” buys. Self-deception rather than self-dicipline but hey, it’s gorgeous and it has worked for a couple of days now, so who cares?

Hell yeah! Nerdilicious!

Here’s a nice animation on the same subject:

…Procrastination is reading this blog. Procrastination is watching youtube-clips this blog writer likes. Procrastination is adding sentences to a blog post you’ve been writing for far too long…

Live progress

Final A2 sketch that the 3 b/w originals will be inked on top of.

Colour revisions.

Drafting film.

I’m off to the art store to get some sheets of drafting film. I’m going to ink a seperate sheet with black, for every colour in the final print.

This live blogging is fun! And it has kept me motivated all day! More to come!

Pouring colour on it

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Different sketch page from the one below. Reminds me a little of Frank Stockton’s lines. Will probably go for the style in the first one.

Feeling very very British, listening to The Bugle, trying it out for the first time. John Oliver of The Daily Show (which annoyingly is blocked online here in the UK. (Thus: 1h 7min remaining) ) is in it so it might be mighty nice.

And for you Swedish friends, don’t miss the radio show Tankesmedjan (similar to The Bugle) featuring fellow cartoonists Liv Strömquist and Sara Hansson.
